Joaquin, Roy Doolittle, Chris Styles, Lawrence Sligh, Jasmine Wallace, Peggy G. Goodman, Jean Wilkerson, Cindy Dickerson, Teresa Wardlaw, LaVerne Brock, Phifer Suber and Charlie A. Wilbanks.
On a sad note, we send our sympathies and best wishes to the families of Mrs. Carolyn Hatchell and Mr. William C. Bill Armfield.
Mr. Armfield, longtime Whitmire resident, never met a stranger with his outgoing personality. He inspired and encouraged writers, journalists and folks who enjoyed publishing to continue own with their goals. Mr. Armfield owned and published the Whitmire News at one time, along his other many community activities. My first writing job was with The Whitmire News back in high school. Wrote the column “Wolve Talk,” paid $10 per column, $40 dollars per month, that was big money for a high school senior in 1976-77. More than that, he gave Whitmire students opportunities to write the column through they years. Thank you “Mr. Bill” for the opportunity.
