UNION COUNTY — Enrollment for the fall semester at the Union County Advanced Technology Center continues today at the center and at the main campus of Spartanburg Community College.
Located at 1401 Furman Fendley Highway, Union, the center held on-site registration on Monday for its English, math, transitional studies, and pre-health science classes.
The very popular welding classes offered by the center have been full since July.
UCATC Administrative Specialist Cathy Freeman said Thursday morning that a total of 20 people registered for classes at the center during on-site registration.
“It went very well,” Freeman said. “We had 20 people who came through. They were able to register and complete financial aid applications. Some also took the COMPASS test.
“We also had several who were able to get their textbooks,” she said. “We don’t have textbooks for sale here, but we do have a form people can fill out to pre-order them. We sent the forms they filled out to the main campus and they boxed up their books and sent them here and we were able to give the students who took advantage of that opportunity their textbooks.”
Even though on-site registration was Monday, Freeman said that registration for the fall semester continues through today. She said anyone wanting to register for classes for the fall semester can do so at the center until 1:30 p.m. today and at the main SCC campus in Spartanburg until 5 p.m.
Freeman added that not only can students register for classes at the center, they can also register for classes at any other SCC campus.
The fall semester at the UCATC begins Monday with the first welding class of the semester starting at 8 a.m. The first math class of the semester begins at 9:30 a.m. There will be another math class at 12:30 p.m. The afternoon welding class will be at 2:3o p.m.
