UNION — The University of South Carolina Union is the perfect place to start your college experience. We offer classes at our main campus in Union or at our new location in Laurens.
Our Laurens campus is located at 507 N. Harper St, Suite L and it offers a variety of programs and services in Laurens County.
When you call or visit our Laurens location, you may speak to Connie Parker, USC Union at Laurens Community Liaison/Office Assistant.
Connie, a USC Union and USC alum, wanted to work at USC Union Laurens location to help other students who were seeking the same degree or our expanded offerings.
“I know what having my degree meant to me and I wanted to share and encourage others to do the same,” said Connie.
She knows and understands the community of Laurens and encourages students to make good decisions and better themselves. She encourages others to set long-range goals and supports them while they are taking the steps to achieve their goals.
“USC Union has been the vehicle for me to achieve my academic goals, said Connie. “I would not have my degree had USC Union Laurens location not been available to offer classes locally and provide guidance for me to achieve a goal that was interrupted in the 60s when I married and had children.”
Connie and her husband have become friends with legislators over the years by living and working in Laurens and being involved in community affairs. She has served on several boards which have allowed her to be in contact with city, county and state officials. She got to know South Carolina Sen. Danny Verdin because he owns a farm/lawn supply company and he cracks their pecans in the fall. She met former South Carolina House Rep. Adam Taylor through USC Union Laurens location when his father was honored as a recipient of the Founders’ Day award.
As Campus Dean Alice Taylor-Colbert explained, “Connie knows everyone in Laurens and is a great asset to USC Union as a result. Her thoughtfulness and kindness to students of all ages makes our new location a great place to visit and to earn your Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.”
