Saturday, Nov. 9


10 a.m.-3 p.m.: Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 2153 Mount Lebanon Road, Buffalo, holds its 5th Annual Fall Festival Car Show. There will be a Top 10 category plus People’s Choice, Best Street Rod, Best Club Participation, and Special Interest. Registration will be from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Trophy presentation will be at 3 p.m. There is a $15 registration fee. The event will feature music, food, and fun. Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, vendors, or persons will not be responsible for any and all accidents or damages that may occur during the fall festival. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.: Covenant Baptist Church is having a community free soup day at the church. Everyone is welcome.


11:30 a.m.: Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church holds its Annual Chicken Stew/Chicken Salad/Bake Sale. Chicken stew is $5 and chicken salad is $5 a pint.


Noon: The Jeter Chapel YAR will sponsor a hot dog plate sale at the Carlisle-Santuc Event Center (old Carlisle Fish Camp). Plates are $6 and include two hot dogs, baked beans, chips, and a soda. Rev. Anthony Washington, pastor.


7 p.m.: Karen Peck and New River will be in concert at the Boiling Springs 9th Grade Campus in Boiling Springs. She has been in the Gaither videos and she was also in the the movie “Joyful Noise” with Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah. For more information call 864-237-3214.


Sunday, Nov. 10


Noon: Fairforest Baptist Church of Union holds “The Best Sunday Lunch In The World” after services. The meals come with one meat, three sides, a drink, and dessert. The meats on the menu are fried chicken, roast, and grilled pork chops. The sides are rice and gravy, cream corn, green beans, mac and cheese, potato salad, lima beans, rolls, and cornbread. There are also a variety of homemade desserts to choose from. To go plates are available.


2 p.m.: Woodson Chapel Baptist Church holds is Deacon Ordination service for trustee Ruben McKissick. Rev. Duane Cooper, pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Jonesville, will bring the message. The public is invited. Rev. Robert E. Collins, pastor.


2:30 p.m.: Maple Ridge Baptist Church holds its Annual Missionary Day Program. Our topic will be “Four Women of the Bible.” Our speakers for this event will be Evangelist Debra J. Williamson (Ruth), Evangelist Veronica Clark (Esther), Minister Brenda Byrd (Rebekah), and Minister Juanita Giles (Mary, the mother of Jesus). Come out and witness these powerful women who will letting God use them. We look forward to fellowshipping with you and will gladly return your visit upon request.


2:30 p.m.: The Missionary Ministry of McBeth Baptist cordially invites you to our Annual Missionary Program. We have a very dynamic preacher for the occasion, Pastor Jefferson McDowell of Mt. 10:30 a.m.: The Christian Leadership Training Institute session will be held at the Pacolet River Baptist Association Center on Lover’s Lane Road. The subject to be discussed: “Turning The Other Cheek.” All pastors, ministers, deacons, church leaders and all others are invited and encouraged to attend. Dr. James L. Mason, Moderator.

2-4 p.m.: Morningside Baptist Church holds a reception to honor and welcome the Rev. Aulbrey Calvert and wife Judy as the church’s new pastor. All members and friends are invited to attend this welcoming.


3 p.m.: Senior Ushers of St. Luke Baptist Church holds their program. Rev. Michael Golden of Limestone Baptist Church in Gaffney will be guest speaker. Rev. George W. Shell Jr., pastor.


Tuesday, Nov. 26


6 p.m.: Morningside Baptist Church holds its annual “Thanksgiving Soup and Stew Supper.” Members are urged to attend and the community is also invited.


Saturday, Nov. 30


12:30 p.m.: St. Paul Baptist Church will sponsor a youth trip to Disney On Ice at the Bi-Lo Center. Call 864-426-7790 or 864-441-4334.


Saturday, Dec. 7


5 p.m.: The Chosen Few (Mary Owens) will present a gospel play entitled “Mama Did You Love Us” at the Pacolet River Association Building. Come in for an evening of laughter and spiritual entertainment.


5 p.m.: The Paradise AME Church Simply Blessed Gospel Choir sponsors the 3rd Annual Share the Gift of Christmas Gospel Fest. Rev. Michael Hill, pastor.

9:30 a.m.: Pacolet River Baptist Association holds its Missionaries quarterly meeting at St. Luke Baptist Church, Buffalo. Rev. George Shell, Pastor. Minister Brenda Byrd, President.


Ongoing Events


The Union Moms In Prayer group meets each Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Family Life Center of Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Highway, Union, S.C. This is an informal gathering of moms, grandmothers, and any other interested ladies who would like to be a part of this important ministry of praying for the students, teachers, and staff of our schools. There is also opportunity, for those who wish, to ask prayer for specific individuals. All ladies are welcome to participate. The Missionary Auxiliary of the Pacolet River Baptist Association has an Emergency Food Pantry in the rear (annex) of the town hall in Jonesville. The pantry is open Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and other times by calling the numbers posted on the sign at the entrance of the annex. Bring identification and proof residence.


New Emanuel Chapel Baptist Church has changed its services times to 9 a.m. for Sunday School and 10 a.m. for Praise and Worship.


Woodson Chapel Baptist Church has changed its services to 9 a.m. for Sunday School and 10 a.m. for Worship.
