UNION — A regional organization that provides consultation services for small businesses will begin providing those services to local businesses from its new office on Main Street in downtown Union
The Winthrop Region of South Carolina Small Business Development Centers announced Friday that it will open an office to serve the small business community in the City of Union.
“Our staff has been traveling to Union as time allowed, to work with local agencies and the City of Union in assisting start-up businesses with one-on-one consulting and presentation of business workshops,” Larry Stevens, a Union native and Director of the Winthrop Region SBDC, said. “Now, with the help of additional dollars and in-kind donations as well, we will have an actual presence in Union and will be able to work much closer with the community.
“We will offer assistance and workshops on how to start a small business, and help existing businesses that may wish to expand or need financial or operational analysis or need a revised business plan to help them going forward,” he said. “We can also offer assistance with preparation to apply for a business loan, marketing, getting your business online, developing a system for record-keeping, and other business tasks to help a business grow successfully.”
Stevens also announced that well-known Union community leader Lewis Jeter III will be the new Union SBDC Consultant, with an office located in the SC Works Building at 103 West Main St. He said that Jeter will be visiting with a variety of local agencies and community leaders in the weeks to come to make them aware of the variety of small business services available to SBDC clients courtesy of the State of SC and the SBA, as well as their supporting local partners in Union: SC Works, the City of Union and the Union Chamber of Commerce.
The press release further stated that consultants from the Rock Hill office of the SBDC will also continue to work with Jeter to offer a variety of workshops to help grow and develop the business community.
As of Monday, Aug. 4, interested business owners may reach the Union office at UnionSBDC@gmail.com or call 864-427-4119 to schedule an appointment for consultation.
