JONESVILLE — The Union County Coroner’s Office and the SC Highway Patrol are investigating an automobile accident that left one man dead.

In a statement released late Friday night, Union County Coroner William Holcombe announced that his office and the SCHP are investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident which occurred earlier that evening in the 300 block of Spencer Road off SC 18 in Jonesville.

Holcombe identified the deceased as Ronnie Edward Lipsey, Jr., 47, 328 Spencer Road, Jonesville. He said that Lipsey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cpl Bill Rhyne of the SCHP said that the accident occurred around 6:21 p.m. on Spencer Road, 2.5 miles north of the Town of Jonesville. Rhyne said that the vehicle, a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck, was traveling south on Spencer Road when it ran off the right side of the road.
