UNION COUNTY — A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a crime that occurred in 2004.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office announced this morning that Steven Wayne Tarleton, 46, 3098 Irene Bridge Highway, Hickory Grove, had been arrested and charge with Grand Larceny.
Tarleton was charged in connection with the May 2004 theft of a truck and a Bobcat from a work site in Ottaray. The equipment was being used in the clean up of a lot behind the Ottaray Mill site. They had a combined value of $25,000.
While the theft of the vehicles was discovered in 2004, it wasn’t until February 2007 that a warrant was signed for Tarleton’s arrest.
Even after the warrant was issued for his arrest, Tarleton remained at-large until Tuesday afternoon when he was taken into custody by law enforcement in Greenville and transported to the Union County Jail.
