Arrests made in burglary case


Two charged with stealing $13,500 in property

UNION COUNTY — Two arrests have been made in connection with the June burglary of a Jonesville area residence in which $13,500 worth of property was stolen.

In a statement released this afternoon, Union County Sheriff David Taylor announced that two men had been arrested and charged in connection with the burglary that occurred sometime between June 18-22.

Taylor said that Hughie Todd Haire, 42, 102 2nd Street, Union, and Michael Cleveland Trantham, 30, 126 Lancaster Rd., Jonesville, are each charged with burglary first-degree and grand larceny.

In the course of the investigation that lead to the arrests of Haire and Trantham, Taylor said deputies were able to recover part of the items stolen from the residence on T Bishop Road. He said the recovered items had a total value of $5,250.

Taylor said the investigation is continuing and that more arrests may be made in the case.
