Man charged with attempted murder

MONARCH — Deputies responded to Union Medical Center in regard to an armed robbery Thursday evening, resulting in two men being charged, one of whom was charged with attempted murder.

Nathaniel Edward McAbee, 18, of 502 Drugstore Street, Buffalo, was charged with attempted murder and armed robbery around 3:30 a.m. July 8.

Scott Charles Darling Jr., 27, of 925 Meansville Road, Union, was charged with obstructing justice and on a bench warrant around 3 a.m. July 8.

According to the incident report, a deputy responded to Union Medical Center in regard to a robbery and assault which occurred in the Monarch area of Union County. The victim stated he was taken to a residence in Monarch, where he was robbed and beaten with a baseball bat.

A juvenile was also charged. Stolen items were reported as $836 cash, jewelry valued at $100, and portable electronics valued at $500.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office also reported the following arrests:

— Brittany Elizabeth Martin, 26, of 1348 Peach Orchard Road, Union, was charged with disorderly conduct and simple possession of marijuana around 11:10 p.m. July 7.

— William Mark Lawson, 47, of 137 Old Home Place Road, Jonesville, was charged with disorderly conduct around 1:45 a.m. July 8.

— Alan Z. Edwards Jr., 20, of 112 Carolyn Drive, Spartanburg, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a half-mile of a school, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within a half-mile of a school around 11:36 a.m. July 6.

— Jonathan Scott Pettie, 33, of 1101 Arthur Blvd., Union, was charged with receiving stolen goods around 5:10 p.m. June 27.

Wesley Chad Murphy, 34, of 302 Blassingame Street, Union, was charged with receiving stolen goods around 4:20 p.m. July 1.

James Grant Furlow, 31, of 1418 Peach Orchard Road, Union, was charged with trespassing, receiving stolen goods and a bench warrant around 12:22 p.m. July 5.

According to the incident report, Pettie, Murphy and Furlow were charged as a result of an investigation of a break-in at an address on Peach Orchard Road in Union. The investigation began on June 12. The report states a window in a garage was broken, and a golf cart valued at $4,500 was stolen.

— Christopher Dennis Lawson, 34, of 936 Main Street, Buffalo, was charged with unlawful use of telephone around 9:53 p.m. July 5.

— Michael Paul Quinn, 37, of 206 2nd Street, Union, was charged with breach of trust around 9 p.m. July 5.

— Joshua Elias Hart, 44, of 347 Gilmore Road, Union, was charged as a fugitive from justice around 10 p.m. July 4. According to the incident report, Hart is wanted by the Franklin County, Ohio Sheriff’s Department on charges of child neglect.

— Paul Robert Harvey, 52, of 265 Farmhill Road, Jonesville, was charged with public drunk and open container around 8:47 p.m. July 4.

— Eddie Tremain Gist, 37, of 214 Holt Drive, Union, was charged with second-degree domestic violence around 3:30 a.m. July 4. According to the incident report, Gist began to choke a woman during an argument which turned physical.

— Otis Lipscomb III, 34, of 120 Hightower Drive, Buffalo, was charged with domestic violence, burglary and kidnapping around 1:40 p.m. July 2.

— Krystal Michele Dunaway, 31, of 319 B Street, Jonesville, was charged with malicious damage to property and first-degree assault and battery around 12:30 p.m. July 3. According to the incident report, Dunaway threatened her sister with a machete, accidentally hit another woman in the arm with the blunt side of the machete, and damaged the front door and handrail of a residence with the machete. Dunaway stated the argument with her sister began over $40 she had let her sister borrow to buy crack.

— Dennis Allen Candis, 60, of 365 Santuc Drive, Union, was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer around 6:15 a.m. July 3. According to the incident report, Candis had knocked on the doors of multiple residences claiming to be a U.S. Marshal. The report states Candis was carrying a black CO2 pellet pistol and a non-firing replica of a Colt 1873 “Peacemaker.”

— Ronald Christpher Gist, 44, of 405 Worthy Street, Jonesville, was charged with third-degree domestic violence around 7:40 a.m. July 2. According to the incident report, Gist grabbed a woman by her hair and dragged her across the floor of her residence.

— Elijah Michael Laster, 27, of 335 Wesley Chapel Road, Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 11:10 p.m. July 1.

— Austin Stephen Brackett, 20, of 835 Motlow School Road, Campobello, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule III narcotic around 1:20 p.m. July 1.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:

— A resident of Thornridge Road, Union, reported on July 2 that a pull-behind trailer valued at $500 was stolen from his home. The complainant stated he borrowed the trailer from a man the previous day, and when he heard a noise outside his home, he looked out the window to observe a white Chevrolet S-10 pulling onto the road with the trailer hooked to it.

— A resident of Joe Walker Road, Union, reported on July 5 that his residence was burglarized between 1-4 p.m. July 5. Missing items included prescription medication, a Smith & Wesson Old Henry 30/30 rifle valued at $1,400, a Matthew Monster bow and arrow valued at $1,200, a cherry wooden jewelry box with various jewelry valued at $500, and a container of change valued at $500.

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:

— Allen Jeffary Ferguson, 58, of 101 O’Shields Street, Union, was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct around 6:30 p.m. July 1. According to the arrest warrant, Ferguson forcibly fondled a 10-year-old while at an address on Thomas Street in Union.

— Rusty Shane Jeter, 28, of 143 East Lee Street, Union, was charged with driving under suspension and habitual traffic offense around 12:55 p.m. July 6.

— James Grant Furlow, 31, of 1418 Peach Orchard Road, Union, was charged with larceny and on a bench warrant around 12:34 p.m. July 5. According to the arrest warrant, Furlow broke into a vehicle while at an address on Lakeview Heights, Union, on July 1.

— Corey Germaine Lott, 34, of 227 Mill Street, Union, was charged with driving under suspension.

— Nathaniel Paul Williford, 21, of 248 Meadow Woods Road, Union, was charged with driving under suspension.

— Charles Edward Dawkins Jr., 44, of 205 East Main Street, Union, was charged with driving under suspension around 1:13 p.m. July 3.

— Ben Allen Feaster, 49, of 117 Malone Ave., Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 9:40 p.m. July 2.

— Gary Thompson, 44, of 212 Gault Ave., Union, was charged with two counts of assault and battery around 5:15 p.m. July 2. According to the arrest warrant, Thompson struck a man and woman in the face while at an address on Porter Street, Union, on July 2.

— Stacey Lynn Tisdale, 36, of 1362 Monarch Hwy., Union, was charged with shoplifting around 2:15 p.m. July 1.

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following incidents:

— A woman who was staying in an apartment on Chambers Ave., Union, while her cousin was out of town reported on July 8 that she discovered around 11:40 p.m. July 7 that two televisions were missing from the apartment. The woman said she will have her cousin — the resident of the apartment and owner of the televisions — call in with details about the items.
