UNION — A local men’s ministry will host an exciting fundraiser next Saturday to involve all ages and raise money for the group.
The St. Paul Baptist Church Brotherhood Group — the church’s men’s ministry — will host a Trans-South Wrestling fundraiser event at 7:30 p.m. next Saturday, June 11, at the Pacolet River Baptist Association, located at 168 Lovers Lane Road, Union.
Brother A. Ray Jones said everyone in the Brotherhood Group is excited about the event. The group will hold its annual fish fry fundraiser even earlier in the day, and members will sell concessions during wrestling matches. Jones said he looks forward to having such an event where children and adults can come and enjoy sports entertainment while supporting the church group.
This will be the first Trans-South Wrestling event of 2016, and referee Tracy Gene Rash said TSW will kick back off with a bang as the main event of the evening will be a steel cage match. The cage match is scheduled as a bout between TSW Heavyweight Champion Chase “Cauliflower” Brown and former champion Deon Johnson. Rash said Johnson and Brown have made some requests in regard to the match, and those requests will be addressed at next Saturday’s event.
“Whatever decision is made, wrestling fans will get to see the main event take place inside a steel cage,” Rash said.
The event will also feature the TSW debut of midget wrestling superstar The Buzzsaw, a masked wrestler who stands 4’4”. Rash said The Buzzsaw prefers the term “midget” and has been billed as such per his own request.
Other attractions on the card will include the TSW debut of Mexican luchadore tag team Los Hermanos Voladeros. Other wrestlers on the card are Hunter Thompson, Eric Adamz, Zane Riley, the Black Angel, Boris Baranov and more. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students at the door. Advance tickets — for all ages — are available for $6 each at Buffalo Pawn & Gun. Student tickets at the special $5 price will only be available at the door, not in advance. This TSW event is sponsored in part by Brown’s Roofing of Union.
