Union man sentenced in federal court


Will serve 15 years in prison, five years probation

UNION COUNTY — A Union man will spend the next 15 years in federal prison and another five on probation.

In a statement released Friday afternoon, Union County Sheriff David Taylor announced that Willie Mack Walton was sentenced in federal court on Tuesday, May 17 by the Honorable Timothy M. Cain to 15 years in prison and five years probation.

Taylor said that Walton was indicted and arrested on April 16, 2015 on a federal gun violation: felon in possession of a firearm.

Taylor said the indictment against Walton stemmed from an investigation by the Union County Gang Investigator along with the Upstate Gang Task Force.
