UNION COUNTY — A Union man will spend more than five years in prison and another three on probation for a federal gun violation.

In a statement released this afternoon, Union County Sheriff David H. Taylor announced that Solomon Maurice Gore, 25, 134 Thomas Ranch Road, Union, was sentenced in federal court to 63 months in federal prison.

Taylor said that the Honorable Bruce H. Hendricks sentenced Gore to 63 months in prison after Gore plead guilty to one count Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon.

Taylor said the federal indictment was sought after an incident with Gore inside the City of Union in 2015.

Taylor said that the Union County Sheriff’s Office is continually pursuing convicted felons that repeatedly ignore the state and federal laws of this country.

After Gore’s active sentence, Taylor said he will be on three years of supervised federal probation.
