UNION — The Union Public Safety Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two people accused of shoplifting approximately $2,100 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

The incident report states that an officer was dispatched to Walmart, 513 N. Duncan Bypass, Union, just before 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 in reference to a shoplifter. When he arrived, the officer spoke with the store’s Loss Prevention Manager who presented him with a receipt, digital pictures, video pictures, and a Walmart incident report in reference to two unidentified shoplifters.

The Loss Prevention Manager stated that the shoplifters were a male and a female and had entered the story at 9 p.m. and left at 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. He stated that the shoplifters placed all the items that were stolen inside a shopping cart. Their first selection was a bottle of shampoo and conditioner from the shampoo aisle

The shoplifters then proceeded to the appliance aisle where they selected a deer fryer. They then made their way to electronics where the Loss Prevention Officer said they selected five JBL Bluetooth speakers, three external hard drives, a router, two TB Port HDs, and a KNB Orig and placed them in the shopping cart.

The shoplifters then went to the pet section where they got a bag of dog food and placed it over all the other items in the shopping cart and then, passing all points of sale, left the building through the grocery exit.

The Loss Prevention Officer said the shoplifters were driving a silver Dodge Charger with an unknown license plate number.

The Public Safety Officer dispatched to the scene said a report on the incident would be completed. He was then told by the Loss Prevention Officer that the shoplifters were the same people already being investigated by the Public Safety Department for a prior incident that occurred on Aug. 31.

Investigator Mark Gregory said Tuesday that in the Aug. 31 incident, the shoplifters stole approximately $800 worth of merchandise.

The items stolen in the Oct. 30 incident had a combined value of $1,267 including:

• Shampoo — $4

• Hair Conditioner $3

• Deep Fryer — $40

• 5 JBL Bluetook speakers ($99.88 a piece) — $500

• 3 External Hard Drives ($99 a piece) — $300

• 2 TB Port HD ($99 a piece) — $200

• 1 Router — $200

• KNB Org 35 — $20

Persons with information about the shoplifters should call the Union Public Safety Department at 864-429-1713 or Crimestoppers 864-427-0800.
