UNION — It’s been said that the best part of the morning is a cup of coffee and that’s especially true for those who are getting their mornings off to a good start with a cup of coffee at the Ellé Bell Café Coffee & Gift Shop.

Located at 111 West Main Street in downtown Union, the Ellé Bell Café Coffee & Gift Shop opened its doors at 8:30 a.m. Thursday and got an enthusiastic endorsement from its first customer.

“It’s the best coffee in Union,” Deitrich Lott said as she got two Caramel Macchiatos at the shop shortly after it opened its doors Thursday morning.

The compliments continued Friday and increased in number as more Union residents began to enjoy what the shop has to offer.

“I love it,” said Erica Smith Friday morning as she, like Lott the previous day, enjoyed a Caramel Macchiato.

In addition to hot coffee and espresso, the shop also sells iced coffee and frappes. On Friday, Troy Cook enjoyed a Vanilla Bean Frappe, saying “it was very good.”

Friday, however, was not the first time Smith has enjoyed a cup of Ellé Bell coffee. Smith described herself as a “long-time” customer of the coffee made and sold by Ellé Bell Café.

Ellé Bell Café is an online virtual coffee shop and gift store owned and operated husband and wife Philip and Danielle Bell. Through their online store, the Bells sell coffee-scented candles, coffee cups, organic coffee, and copies of Danielle’s book, “Café Passion, A Java Romance,” a book she wrote about coffee three years ago that ultimately lead to the creation of Ellé Bell Café.

Now, as Philip said Thursday, the couple has “just moved our online business live” with the opening of Ellé Bell Café Coffee & Gift Shop.

Meeting Place On Main

Ellé Bell Café Coffee & Gift Shop shares its location with the “Meeting Place On Main — Workforce Readiness Center.”

The Workforce Readiness Center is part of Trinity Baptist Church’s Channel of Blessing Ministry which has traditionally provided food to the needy of Union County. While the Ministry is still doing this, it is expanding its efforts to assist the needy by helping them develop the skills needed to get and hold a job and become self-supporting. Through the Workforce Readiness Center the Ministry will provide those with services to those being served by the Ministry including helping them prepare for a successful job interview and providing them with food and clothing in preparation for that interview.

In August 2013, Gov. Nikki Haley took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony formally opening Meeting Place on Main. Trinity Baptist had received $37,000 from Haley’s “Original 6 Foundation” to help pay for the renovation of the building on Main Street that now serves as home to both the Workforce Readiness Center and Ellé Bell Café Coffee & Gift Shop.

Trinity Baptist Church Pastor Neil Keisler said Thursday that the church’s partnership with Ellé Bell Café is designed to help make the workforce ministry possible. He said Ellé Bell Café is assuming responsibility for operation and expenses of the building which will enable the church to focus on its workforce ministry.

In addition, Keisler and Bell said that Workforce Ministry is also partnering with SCWorks whose clients will be able use the facility, including its computers, if needed.
