UNION COUNTY — A travel football and cheer squad is sponsored by a local service organization.

The new Union County Bulls travel football team and cheer squad — for ages 5-12 — is sponsored by the Union County United Youth Club (UCUYC) which began in 2014.

The organization’s mission is to develop character and excellence in student athletes based on Christian principles.

“We wanted to show that you can show humility, respect, and exhibit honor, and still be successful,” states the UCUYC Facebook page. “By implementing academic programs and a family atmosphere, and teaching everything from life skills to etiquette, we have been able to touch the lives of countless families.”

The page also states the group’s academic program has been a major highlight, turning low performance students into Honor Roll students “simply by taking the necessary interest in them and holding them accountable.”

The UCUYC will hold a car wash/hot dog sale fundraiser beginning at 9 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 8, at Union County Stadium.

Look for more information about the Union County Bulls and the Union County United Youth Club in upcoming editions of The Union Daily Times and at www.uniondailytimes.com. More information may also be received by emailing unioncountyunited4@gmail.com.
