UNION — The Sims Middle School Volleyball team continued to struggle this week with a 3-0 loss to Florence Chapel.
Coach Tracy Duncan said that the score in the first game of Wednesday’s match was 25-9 while in the second game it was 25-8 and 25-13 in the third game.
Duncan said that in the first game Sims “was hurt by serves as a whole. Passes were much better and hitting was better, but they just could not pull out a win. Game two serves were better, but still could not pull off the win. Game three was a little better as far as getting passes to the other side. Overall, as a team our passing looked much better (but) movement and not communicating as a team is hurting us.”
The Lady Tigers will play again on Monday at 5 p.m. taking on D.R. Hill. Duncan said Monday’s game will be the last home match of the season. She said that during Monday’s match Sims’ 8th grade “seniors” will be recognized.
Sims’ loss to Florence Chapel was its sixth for the season, losses that Duncan said does not reflect the team’s strengths but does show what needs to be done to turn things around.
“Our record does not show the talent we have on the team,” Duncan said. “Playing together and talking is a must.”
