UNION — Reading is a rewarding experience for people of all ages as the winners of the Union County Carnegie Library’s Children, Juvenile, and Young Adult Summer Reading program learned in June and July.

The theme for this year’s program for elementary age children was “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!” and for teens was “Get In The Game, Read!” There were 23 sports-related activities including obstacle courses, Olympic Games parties, and nursery rhyme relays. A total of 810 children and parents participated in the program.

The winners and the categories they won in were:

• Chris Yanez — Ages 7 and older.

• Jeri Lynn — Ages 2-6.

The winners each received a $50 Walmart gift card.

The sponsors for the Summer Reading program were:

• Subway
