UNION — The Union Music Club presents the Cornelia Greer Walker scholarships for the 2016-2017 school year to the following college students: Evan Haney, Ryan West, Maisie Fisher, and Meredith Foster.
Evan Haney is a senior at Presbyterian College majoring in Political Science and Music (organ). He is also minoring in Pre-Law Studies and Philosophy. Evan is involved in the Presbyterian College Choir and Bell Ringers and is Director of Music and Organist at First Presbyterian Church, Union. Evan’s parents are Mark and JoAnne Haney. His grandparents are Joe T. and Phylllis Haney and the late Earl F. and Glanna Kingsmore.
Ryan West is a junior Charleston Southern University majoring in Music Education with emphasis on percussion and piano. He plays snare drum in the CSU marching band. He is involved in Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and is pianist for CSU’s Jazz Ensemble. Ryan’s parents are Gene and Tammy West. His grandparents are Wade and Sadie Wilson, Maurice and Mary Hyder and the late Grady and Nellie West.
Maisie Fisher has completed her freshman year at Presbyterian College majoring in Biology (Pre-Med) and Spanish. She is involved in the music department, playing flute in the Pep Band and Wind Ensemble and participating in the Piano Ensemble group. She has had 11 years of piano lessons and continues to take piano lessons at Presbyterian College. Maisie’s parents are Frank and Tammy Fisher and her grandparents are Russell Roark and Linda Smith.
Meredith Foster has been a student at Lawson Academy of the Arts, Converse College from 7th grade to 12th grade. Meredith has performed in many recitals and competed in competitions locally and statewide. She is a singer and studies classical and musical theater styles and plans to continue her voice lessons and music studies at Presbyterian College. Meredith’s parents are Charles Michael and Miranda Foster and her grandparents are the late Ralph and Lantha Lipsey.
