UNION COUNTY — The end of the school year is a time for honoring students for academic achievement and that was the case for two Union County High School students who were recognized by the Union Rotary Club.
During a May meeting of the club at Covenant Baptist Church, the Rotarians recognized Mariana Glenn-Toland and Macey Scarborough.
At the time of the meeting, Marianna was a junior at Union County High School where she is a cheerleader as well as a member of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Interact Service Club, and Arthur State Bank’s Junior Board of Directors. Marianna is a member of Mt Rowell Baptist Church where she participates in the Youth Usher Board and Youth Choir.
Marianna, who wants to attend UNC Chapel Hill, is the recipient of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award.
A graduating UCHS senior at the time of the recognition luncheon, Macy was a member of the National Honor Society, president of the Interact Club, a member of the International Thespian Society, a member of the Gifted and Talented Drama Class, a member of the Varsity Volleyball Team, served as secretary of the Spirit Club (UC Crunk Crew), and participated in many school plays/musicals including “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” and “The Little Mermaid.”
Macy was awarded a Rotary Scholarship which she will use to help fund her education at the College of Charleston.
The Union Rotary Club congratulates both of these young women on their academic achievements.
