MONARCH — School is out for the summer but before they went on vacation the students at Monarch Elementary School showed their appreciation for the men and women of law enforcement.

In honor of National Police Office Appreciation Week, Monarch Elementary School students made gift baskets full of snacks for the Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies, a beautiful poster to display in the office, and several other items. The kindergartners insisted on sending treats to the K-9’s as well.

The gifts were presented at the Union County Sheriff’s Office. The presentation was attended by Sheriff David Taylor, Sergeant Jared Gilstrap, Deputy Jamison Taylor, Union County Schools Curriculum Coach Susan Gilstrap, and MES 4th grader Gabriel Gilstrap.

Monarch Elementary School would like to thank all officers for serving and protecting our community.
