First, President Bishop welcomed everyone and led all in attendance in reciting the Invocation and the Federation Collect. Next, the members sang the Federation Hymn and the May song, from the Music Club Songbook “Together We Sing,” entitled “Smiles” with music by Lee S. Roberts and words by J. Will Callahan. Rev. Sanders Read, club treasurer, presented the treasury report from the fundraiser on April 28. All of the members agreed that the concert was a great success, and the money received will greatly benefit the young musicians of Union County. Treasurer Read asked if funds should be allocated for more summer organ lessons to be taught by Tommy Bishop, and the group approved this suggestion. A vote was taken to allow the scholarship money to pay for Andrew Benson’s organ lessons. Members were asked to make an additional scholarship donation.
For future information, there may be a possibility of a scholarship concert by “The Blond, the Brunette, and the Redhead” musical group from Converse College in Spartanburg. Also, Ryan Smith has offered to present a concert of music inspired by Shakespeare.
The meeting was adjourned with the singing of the “Benediction Song” played on the piano by President Bishop.
