AIKEN — A local tennis pro was part of a team that made it to the semifinals in a recent statewide competition.

USPTA Pro Brad Tate participated in the USTA League State Championship in May at Aiken as a member of the Spartanburg Athletic Club’s 3.5 Team. The team made it to the semifinals against some particularly stiff competition that included teams from Lexington, Columbia, the Grand Strand, Bluffton-Hilton Head, and the Lowcountry.

Tate said that playing in the championship was quite an experience and that Aiken’s 23 court public tennis facility was outstanding.

Now that he’s back home from the championship competition, Tate is offering group, private, and semi-private tennis lessons throughout the summer. For more information call 864-466-7100.
