UCAC to hold Art Camp 2016 in July

The art camp will held over the course of two weeks with each weeks providing artistic activities for elementary school children. In June, the Art Gallery will host the 2016 Camp of Clay over the course of three days with activities for middle and high school students.


UNION — This summer will be the time to let your child unleash their “inner artist” during the Union County Arts Council’s Art Camp 2016.

Art Camp 2016 will be held at the UCAC Art Gallery, 116 E. Main Street in downtown Union. The Art Camp program will take place over the course of two weeks in July. Each week will provide age appropriate activities for artistic expression for the children participating.

The first week of the Art Camp will be July 11-15 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day for children in kindergarten through the second grade. Entitled “Artistic Science,” this week’s activities will include Rainbow Paper, Magnetic Slime, Crystal Letters, Exploding Paint, Egg Shell Geodes, and many more.

The second week of the Art Camp will be July 18-22 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day for children in the third through the fifth grades. Entitled “Abstract Adventure,” this week’s activities will include Wall Art, Paint & Loom, 3D Project, Mason Jar Tea Lights, and many more.

The cost of the Art Camp is $40 per student per camp. The cost covers lunch which will be provided each day and all materials used in the art projects.

Camp Of Clay

Artists use different mediums to express themselves and one of those is clay which will be the medium used by the students taking part in another activity sponsored by the UCAC this summer.

The 2016 Camp of Clay will be held June 13-15 with two sessions each day. The first session will be from 10 a.m.-noon and will be for youths in the ninth through 12th grades. The second session will be from 1-3 p.m. and will be for children in the sixth through eighth grades.

The cost of Camp of Clay is $50 per student and will include all materials used.
