UNION — The Fair Forest Chapter, NSDAR, met April 5 at Grace United Methodist Church.

Call To Order

Regent Margaret McCarley called the meeting to order. The chapter prayed “The Lord’s Prayer” for the devotional, recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the US, the American’s Creed, and the Salute to the Flag of SC. Kathleen Read, Vice Regent, read the minutes of the previous meeting.

Women In World War II

Martha Whitener, Chairman of the President General’s Committee, gave the President General’s Message. The message encouraged awareness of the remarkable women who played an important part in World War II, piloting planes and building war materials.

Veterans

Cindy Fore, Veteran’s Affairs Officer, presented a very interesting program. She’s enjoyed working with the 2,000 veterans and their families in the Union area. These veterans receive and are entitled to benefits for retirement living, tax reduction for car and house, job training and medical benefits. A van transports patients to VA clinics in Rock Hill, Spartanburg, Greenville and Anderson in this area and the VA Hospital in Columbia.

Next Meeting

At the next meeting, May 3, SC State Regent Dianne Culbertson will present a program on Tamassee DAR School.
