CARLISLE — The weather did not cooperate but that didn’t stop the children of the Carlisle community from having a good time during the Town of Carlisle’s community Easter celebration.
Each year, the Town of Carlisle hosts a community Easter celebration for the children of the Carlisle community ages 10 and under. As in the past, this year’s celebration was held Easter afternoon, but unlike most previous celebrations, this year’s celebration had to have a quick change of location due to the weather.
Mayor Mary Ferguson-Glenn said Thursday that the weather forced the town to move the celebration to inside the Carlisle Town Hall. Even with the change of location, however, Ferguson-Glenn said everyone still had a good time.
“We had approximately 40 kids,” Ferguson-Glenn said. “It was a success in spite of the inclement weather. We had to bring everything in at the last minute, but it was still a success.”
Ferguson-Glenn said each child attending the event got an Easter basket and a gift bag. She said they and the adults accompanying them were served ice cream and cake. There was also face painting for the children who also got to have fun playing games at the town hall.
No Easter celebration would be complete, however, without a visit from the Easter Bunny who, despite the weather and no doubt being tired from delivering all those Easter eggs that morning, put in an appearance at the town hall.
Ferguson-Glenn thanked the Easter Bunny for taking part in the celebration and also thanked all the volunteers and donors who helped not only make the event possible, but also a happy time for the children of the community.
