Easter is approaching and churches throughout Union County are celebrating the events of the story of Easter from Christ’s entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday through His ministry in that city to the Last Supper, His Crucifixion on Good Friday, and His Resurrection on the morning of the first Easter.


Lenten Season Continues

Lent is a time to grown closer to Jesus and the people of Union County will have an opportunity to do so at Grace United Methodist Church.

Grace will again host the Community Lenten Services and lunch at noon each Wednesday through Holy Week March 23. Pastors from different churches will bring the message each week and Tommy Bishop, organist at Grace UMC and St. Augustine Catholic Churches has planned special music. This year’s schedule along with the lunch menu is as follows:

March 16 — Rev. Kermit Morris, pastor of First Baptist Church — Special Music by Daniel Prince; Lunch — pork loin, sweet potatoes, Asian slaw, rolls, dessert, tea & coffee.

March 23 — Rev. A.L. Brackett, pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church — Special Music TBA; Lunch — Fried chicken, green beans, macaroni/cheese, biscuits, dessert, tea & coffee.

Please make every attempt to attend these special and meaningful services as we prepare our hearts for Easter.

Saturday, March 12

8:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m.: Wyatt’s Chapel Baptist Church, 153 Wyatt’s Chapel Road, Buffalo, hosts Focus On The Future Workshop 2016. The program includes:

• 8:15-8:30 a.m. — Prayer and Purpose.

• 8:30-10 a.m. — Relationships and Finances, Pastor Wendell Jones, Pastor and Author.

• 10:15-11:15 a.m. — Positioning yourself to be Blessed by God, Bishop Alan Bruton, Founder of City of Hope Bible College and Author.

• 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — Health and Wellness, Alishah Cooke, MC

• 12:30-12:45 p.m. — Final thoughts and closing.

11 a.m.: Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church is having a Chicken Stew. Takeout only.

11:30 p.m.: Fairforest Baptist Relay Team will be having a Chicken Stew Fundraiser. Cost is $6.

Sunday, March 13

2:15 p.m.: The Maple Ridge Musical Choir will be celebrating their 26th anniversary. Rev. Johnny Johnson, Pastor.

2:30 p.m.: Wyatt’s Chapel Baptist Church, 153 Wyatt’s Chapel Road, Buffalo, hosts a Song Celebration featuring Serenity, Wyatt’s Chapel Combined Choirs, The Gospel Prophets, and others.

3 p.m.: The ChamberTown Lighthouse Church Family (South Mountain Street) invites everyone to our Friends & Family Day. Our Guest Speaker will be Pastor Terry Norman. Let’s make a Joyful noise unto the Lord!!

6 p.m.: The combined choirs of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and Fairforest Baptist Church present “A Night of Worship” at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church.

Saturday, March 19

11 a.m.: Sardis United Methodist Church UMW Circle #1 is having a chicken stew at Sardis. The stew will be ready for pickup beginning at 11 a.m. Proceeds will be used for missions.

5 p.m.: Foster Chapel Gospel Choir, Jonesville, will celebrate their annual Spring Songfest. The public is invited. We ask for your presence for a successful praise worship.

Sunday, March 20

Palm Sunday

10:45 a.m.: St. Paul Baptist Church holds its Annual Women Day program. The guest speaker will be Elder Juanita Dewberry, Associate Minister of Faith In Christ Fellowship, Gaffney. Dr. A.L. Brackett, Pastor.

11 a.m.: The Chancel Choir of Grace United Methodist Church will present the Easter Cantata “Christ Arose,” along with narration, during the 11:00am worship service on March 20th (Palm Sunday). The public is invited to attend this special Easter Exaltation! Rev. David Bauknight is pastor. Thomas E. Bishop is organist/choirmaster.

6 p.m.: The combined choirs of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and Fairforest Baptist Church present “A Night of Worship” at Fairforest Baptist Church.

7 p.m.: “Come Watch The Story Unfold at Bethlehem United Methodist Church featuring the Foster Chapel United Methodist Church, Mt. Joy Baptist Church, and Bethlehem UMC choirs with soloists Mike Manus, Jeff Atkinson, Becky Carlos, and Andrea Gallman.

The Easter drama will tell the story from Palm Sunday through Holy Week in a dramatic and inspiring manner.

Everyone is invited, come join us for an evening of inspiring and relaxing fellowship.

Will be held at Bethelehem United Methodist Church, 1622 Kelly Road.

It promises to be a night to remember.

Wednesday, March 23

7 p.m.: James Chapel Baptist Church, 427 Pinckney St., Carlisle, holds its Spring Revival, “This Means War! Soldiers for Christ, God’s Army. The revivalist will be Pastor K. R. Sheppard, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Chapin.

Friday, March 25

Noon: New Emanuel Chapel Baptist will be hosting The 7 Last Words of Christ Program. Guest Speakers for the noon program will be: Ministry Crystal Dogan, Minster Chuck Brannon, Evangelist Dianne Wright-Talley, Rev. Barry Caldwell, Minister George Hodge, Minister Vurnon Ross, Minister Tameeka Wray

Sunday, April 3

1:30 p.m.: New Emanuel Chapel Baptist Church family will be honoring our Rev. Dr. James L. Mason and First Lady Marilyn Mason on their 13 years of faithful service to our church family and surrounding communities. Guest Speaker will be Pastor J. A. Calhoun of Corinth Baptist Church, Union.

Sunday April 17

2 p.m.: New Emanuel Chapel Baptist Church Rutherford Mass Choir will be celebrate Praise and Songs unto the Lord. All are welcome to come and worship with us.
