Varsity soccer team wins 5-1

UNION COUNTY — The Union County Varsity Boys Soccer Team opened up their season with an incredible 5-1 result against visiting Lewisville.

Junior winger Chris Lawson opened up the game with an impressive chip in the 3rd minute. Sophomore center forward John Addison then launched an unstoppable offensive, scoring a hat rick over the course of 29 minutes (6’ (PK), 25’, and 35’). Senior winger Darius Shumpert finished the day with a goal in the 58th minute.

The defense also had a great game, lead by senior center backs Ricky White and Clint Smallwood. Junior keeper Zach Hayes stepped up with seven saves and played cool, calm, and collected.

The Yellow Jackets open up their region campaign next Tuesday, March 15, as they host Chester High School at 7 p.m.
