USC Union offering free tax preparation

UNION COUNTY — The University of South Carolina Union is offering a free tax preparation service through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at USC Union’s Founders House. The free service is a partnership between USC Union, the IRS, and United Way of Spartanburg.

Any household with a $54,000 or less income per year will qualify for the free service. Situations where real property has been sold or rented out as business income will not be handled with the service. Only 2015 taxes will be prepared. Please bring all W2’s, photo identification and Social Security Cards for any children or dependents you are claiming. This service is by appointment only.

The program will take place every Tuesday starting on Feb. 2 up until April 12 during the times of 9 a.m.-12 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please call USC Union’s Founders House office at 864-424-8042.
