Crime Report


The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:

— Carolyn Bea Willard, 31, of 1404 Main Street, Buffalo, was charged with simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia around 8:12 p.m. Jan. 19.

— Ronnie Joe Groves Jr., 46, of 205 Buffalo Street, Buffalo, was charged with simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and no South Carolina driver’s license around 8:57 p.m. Jan. 19.

— Matthew Wayne Boulware, 33, of 132 High Plains Drive, Union, was charged with receiving stolen goods around 8:57 p.m. Jan. 19. According to the booking and incident reports, Boulware was charged in connection with the report of a stolen hydraulic pole saw — stolen from an address on Whitmire Hwy., Whitmire, between Jan. 8-11. The saw was valued at $1,500.

— Timothy Wayne Weathers, 23, and Johnny Wayne Weathers, 42, both of 1555 Goldmine Road, Spartanburg, were each charged with illegal tattooing around 11:30 a.m. Jan. 18. According to the incident report, an operative for the Union County Sheriff’s Office arranged through text messages to meet both subjects and get a tattoo from them on Jan. 17. The report said they met on Jan. 18 and agreed to do the tattooing inside a residence. After the meeting, a traffic stop was made, and officers stated neither of the Weathers had a certificate from the Office of Safety and Health Administration to perform tattoos. A black and silver case containing tattoo equipment was seized from the vehicle.

— Grover Earl Evans, 66, of 132 West Springs Ballfield Road, Pauline, was charged with selling illegal liquor from a motor vehicle and transporting illegal liquor in a motor vehicle around 1 p.m. Jan. 18. According to the incident report, an officer made an undercover purchase of eight quart containers of “moonshine” from Evans for $140 on Jan. 18.

— Ami Jane Rhodes, 32, of 410 South Main Street, Jonesville, was charged with ten counts of forgery and one count of exploitation of a vulnerable adult around 4:15 p.m. Jan. 17. According to the incident report, Rhodes attempted to cash a check payable to herself in the amount of $900 at Park Sterling Bank, located at 934 Forest Street, Jonesville. The owner of the checking account was contacted, and she informed the bank she had not approved for the check to be written in that amount or in that way. According to the account owner, Rhodes was her personal healthcare worker hired through a home care company. The victim stated she has been giving Rhodes signed personal checks for her to use to pay for groceries and other items when she went shopping for her. The report states Rhodes has cashed a total of nine checks made out to herself, totaling $7,900, since Oct. 26, 2015.

— Cynthia Leigh Steadman, 37, of 105 Dogwood Street, Union, was charged with two counts of third-degree assault and battery around 3:42 a.m. Jan. 16, and Charles Martin Caldwell, 49, also of 105 Dogwood Street, Union, was charged with one count of third-degree assault and battery around 4 a.m. Jan. 16. According to the incident report, Steadman and Caldwell assaulted individuals while at an address on Mitchell Road in Union.

— Jonathan Edward McAbee, 38, of 502 Drugstore Street, Buffalo, was charged with third-degree assault and battery around noon Jan. 16. According to the incident report, a woman stated McAbee slapped her in the face, knocking off her eye glasses during an argument.

— Kenneth Shane Burgess, 29, of 5010 Wheitz Street, Spartanburg, was charged with criminal domestic violence around 8:07 p.m. Jan. 17.

— Adam Wayne Fisher, 26, of 317 Linersville Road, Buffalo, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia around 2:52 a.m. Jan. 18.

— Kimberly Edwards Moore, 28, of 202 Buffalo Street, Union, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia around 4 a.m. Jan. 18.

— Joshua Andrew Howard, 27, of 270 Oakland Road, Union, was charged with first-degree domestic violence around 12:04 a.m. Jan. 19.

— Corwin Lamar Hemingway, 26, of 24 Bruce Street, Greenville, was charged with shoplifting around 4:38 a.m. Jan. 19. According to the incident report, the Union County Sheriff’s Office received information from a Union Public Safety officer that Hemingway was in their custody and had an 18-pack of Bud Light beer in his possession that he had taken from Dollar General, located at 1303 Lockhart Hwy., Union. The beer was valued at $16.

— John Edward Jeter, 55, of Union, was charged with three counts of forgery around 7:29 a.m. Jan. 15. According to the incident report, Jeter signed and cashed three child support checks issued to a woman who is deceased.

— Joseph McMorris Jr., 41, of 118 Edna Drive, Carlisle, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana on Jan. 14.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incident:

— A resident of Duncan Ave., Buffalo, reported on Jan. 19 that someone stole her EBT card from a counter in her residence on Jan. 3. A report was turned over to investigations.

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:

— Trista Victori Wheeler, 17, of 7667 Helican Springs Road, Athens, Ga., was charged with shoplifting around 5:20 p.m. Jan. 20. According to the arrest warrant, Wheeler concealed t-shirts and shampoo on her person while in Walmart, located at 513 North Duncan Bypass, Union.

— Ashley Marie Davis, 21, of 1066 Beacon Light Road, Spartanburg, was charged with two counts of shoplifting around 6 p.m. Jan. 20. According to the incident report, Davis concealed t-shirts and shampoo, as well as took a case of beer from the beer cooler while at Walmart, located at 513 North Duncan Bypass, Union.

— Marcus LaShawn Gist, 34, of 301 Foster Street, Union, was charged with two counts of trespassing, third-degree assault and battery. According to the arrest warrant, Gist struck a woman with a cell phone, causing injuries which required her to seek medical attention.

— Ricco Foster, 32, of 717 West Main Street, Union, was charged with assault and battery, malicious damage to property and public drunk around 9:37 p.m. Jan. 19. According to arrest warrants, Foster entered a residence on West South Street, Union, uninvited and grabbed a man by the arm on Jan. 18. Warrants also state Foster jumped on top of a vehicle, causing damage.

— Brian Justin McConnell, 35, of 1826 Dave Jenkins Road, Blair, was charged with possession of cocaine and failure to use headlights around 11:33 p.m. Jan. 19.

— Corwin Lamar Hemingway II, 26, of 24 Bruce Street, Greenville, was charged with malicious damage to property, resisting arrest and public intoxication around 3:06 a.m. Jan. 19. According to the incident report, Hemingway was originally arrested for public intoxication and eventually broke the window of the patrol car with his handcuffs and and jumped out of the moving vehicle while on Kelly Road, Union. Officers were able to stop Hemingway, and he was transported to Union Medical Center for treatment before being transported to Union County Jail.

— Lou Ann Perry, 59, of 496 Webber Lake Road, Union, was charged with shoplifting around 10:15 a.m. Jan. 15. According to the arrest warrant, Perry took three packs of soda and one pack of Cheez-it crackers from Bi-Lo, located at 320 North Duncan Bypass, Union.

— Mindy Leigh Pruitt, 23, of 3075 West Springs Hwy., Buffalo, was charged with trespassing after notice around 3:05 a.m. Jan. 15.

— Lamarcus Devionne Thompson, 24, of 110 Tiffany Drive, Union, was charged with strong arm robbery around 10:39 p.m. Dec. 20. According to the arrest warrant, Thompson struck a man in the head, causing him to lose consciousness, and while the man was unconscious, Thompson took $600 cash from the man’s person.

— Kintez Jacorey Harris, 22, of 226 Kissy Creek Circle, Union, was charged with assault and drawing in affray around 2 p.m. Jan. 18. Arrest warrants state Harris drew a large silver knife and made a direct threat to do bodily harm to a woman while in front of her apartment on Jan. 18.

— Jeremiah Antwon Sims, 27, of 112 Morning Glory Drive, Union, was charged with assault around 2 p.m. Jan. 18. According to the arrest warrant, Sims made a direct threat to do bodily harm to a woman while in front of her apartment on Jan. 18.

— Scotty Derrick Thompson, 47, of 1205 Kelly Road, Union, was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct around 3 p.m. Jan. 18. According to the incident report, Thompson threatened a man in the parking lot of Union County Carnegie Library, located on South Mountain Street, Union. The report states when advised he was under arrest, Thompson attempted to run down the street, but an officer was able to grab Thompson’s jacket, causing him to lose his balance and fall to the ground.

— Veronica Domonique Fuller, 18, of 235 Lucy Boler Road, Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 2 p.m. Jan. 14. According to the arrest warrant, Fuller engaged in a fight with another student while at Union County High School.

— Marquis Antwon Morgan, 35, of 1144 Gist Quarters, Union, was charged with second-degree burglary (violent) and petit larceny around 6:25 p.m. Jan. 14. According to the arrest warrant, Morgan illegally entered a residence on Perrin Ave., Union, between Oct. 1-21, 2015, with the intent to take t-shirts used for screen printing.

— Roger Dale Pruitt, 44, of 114 3rd Street, Union, was charged with disorderly conduct around 3:56 a.m. Jan. 15. According to the arrest warrant, Pruitt entered Fresh Air Galaxy, located at 907 East Main Street, Union, and became loud and boisterous, using profane language in a threatening manner toward another man.

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following incidents:

— On Jan. 19, a resident of Porter Street reported that someone had flattened all four tires on her vehicle and broken the back window. The reporting officer stated he observed two holes in the back window, and he did not see puncture marks in the tires but noticed they were low on air. The case was turned over to investigations.

— A resident of South Mountain Street reported on Jan. 18 that her vehicle was vandalized while parked in her yard. The victim reported the car had been scratched and all four tires were flat.

— A Spartanburg resident reported on Jan. 18 that her vehicle was vandalized while parked at an address on South Mountain Street, Union. The victim stated three of her tires were flat, and the responding officer noticed a small cut in one of the tires.

— The owner of a residence on Arthur Blvd., Union, reported on Jan. 17 that she returned to the residence after a trip out of town from Jan. 15-17. She stated she noticed two windows were open that were not open when she left, and at the time of the report, the only item she noticed missing from the residence was a silver ring with blue diamonds valued at approximately $400.
