SPARTANBURG — The Rose Hill Candlelight Society of Union held its annual ball on January 9 at the Marriott at Renaissance Park in Spartanburg.

Members and guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Tony Scott Trakas, Mr. and Mrs. Philip David Maness, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Michael Connolly, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Irving Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley O’Neil Vanderford.

Other board members present were Mrs. Charles Jackson Malone, mothers’ chair; Mrs. Joe Franklin Nichols, ball chair; Mrs. Grove Allen Owens, Sr., decorations chair; Mrs. Paul Haynes Wilkes III, presentation chair; Mrs. William Gerard Balkum, publicity chair.

Mrs. Trakas is president of the Rose Hill Candlelight Society and Mrs. Maness is vice president of the Rose Hill Candlelight Society. Mrs. Kelly is recording secretary, Mrs. Connolly is corresponding secretary, and Mrs. Vanderford is treasurer.

Mrs. Trakas welcomed members, guests, and legacy members Mr. and Mrs. Dolton Lewis Williams, II. She also welcomed new members Mr.and Mrs. Richard Kendall Austin; Mr. and Mrs. Jantzen Reid Childers; Mr. and Mrs. Gary James Cooper, III; Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Jared Gilstrap; Doctors William Lance Miller and Patricia Bouknight; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Clayton Moore; Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Shropshire; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Dustin Harmon; and Mr. Eric Eugene Childers served as Master of Ceremonies.

Three young women were presented:

Miss Maisie Taylor Fisher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eugene Fisher of Union, is a sophomore at Presbyterian College. She was presented by her father, Mr. Fisher. Her escort was Mr. James Charles Long.

Miss Haley Allison Palmer, daughter of Ms. Ronda Adams Palmer of Union is a sophomore at Clemson University. She was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Jason Alexander Spencer and presented by her uncle, Mr. Jason Alexander Spencer. Her escort was Mr. Jordan Alexander Spencer.

Miss Caitlin Alexandria Russell, guest debutante, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lee Russell, Jr. of Spartanburg, is a sophomore at Limestone College. Miss Russell is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Todd Harris and was presented by Mr. Harris. Mr. Michael Todd Harris was Miss Russell’s escort.

Nine sons were presented at the ball:

Mr. Charles Andrew Adamo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Adamo. Mr. Adamo is a student at Spartanburg Methodist College.

Mr. Matthew Scott Barnett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Scott Barnett, is a student at the University of South Carolina Upstate.

Mr. Michael Todd Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Todd Harris, is a student at Limestone College.

Mr. Harrison Lee Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Irvin Kelly, is a student at Midlands Technical College.

Mr. David Michael Kicidis, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Michael Kicidis, is a student at the University of South Carolina Columbia.

Mr. James Charles Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wesley Long, is a student at University of South Carolina Upstate.

Mr. Jordan Alexander Spencer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Alexander Spencer, is a student at the University of South Carolina Columbia.

Mr. Nicholas Bryan Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph David Turner, is a student at the University of South Carolina Union.

Mr. Wesley Todd Vassey, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Todd Vassey, is a student at Spartanburg Community College.

Three brides and grooms were presented at the ball:

Mr. and Mrs. Travis Lee Arthur of Clinton, SC, is the daughter and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Michael Connolly, parents of the bride. Mrs. Arthur is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Columbia and is completing her final year in the Doctorate of Pharmacy program at Presbyterian College in Clinton. Mr. Arthur is a graduate of Spartanburg Community College and is employed at ESAB Welding and Cutting in Union.

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Paul Corn of Landrum, SC, is the daughter and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wesley Alexander, Jr., parents of the bride. Mrs. Corn is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Upstate and is employed with Energy Control and Services in Greenville. Mr. Corn is a graduate of Clemson University and is self-employed at Polysource, Incorporated.

Mr. and Mrs. Jon Michael Guest of Moore, SC, is the daughter and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jackson Malone, parents of the bride. Mrs. Guest is a graduate of the Mary Black School of Nursing at the University of South Carolina Upstate and is employed with the Greenville Hospital System. Mr. Guest is a graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and is employed with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
