UNION — The Harry Moore Arthur Armory was the setting for the Union Cotillion Club’s 48th Annual Ball on Dec. 30, 2015.

Decorations of lattice draped in white fabric and tulle sparkled with white lights. As a centerpiece to the room, a white arbor draped in green ivy and red nandina berries provided a lovely entrance way for the debutantes, their presenters, escorts, and the brides and grooms. It was flanked on either side by large bouquets of white mums, roses, and lilies. The white linen-covered tables featured their own distinctive centerpiece of either six tapered silver candelabras or floating candles in crystal bowls. Arrangements of red poinsettia blooms encircled the ballroom.

The night’s festivities began with a champagne toast made by the Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Philip Gerald Gough. At that time, the Union Cotillion Club presented two young women. One daughter and one niece were presented.

Miss Emily Catherine Kingsmore is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Monty Dale Kingsmore of Union. She was sponsored by her mother and presented by her father. Miss Kingsmore is a sophomore at the Horry Georgetown Technical College where is studying to be a dental hygienist. She was escorted by Mr. Nathaniel Derek Tyson of Charleston. Mr. Tyson attends The Citadel where he is majoring in business. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Shawn Michael Tyson of Gray Court.

Miss Joan Elizabeth Adams is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Adams of Rock Hill. She was sponsored by her aunt, Mrs. Alvin Aubry Adams, Jr. and presented by her uncle, Mr. Alvin Aubry Adams, Jr. Miss Adams is a sophomore at the Anderson University where she is pursuing a degree in Education. Miss Adams was escorted by Mr. Andrew Blake Holbrook of Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Holbrook is a graduate of North Greenville University and is a department manager with Dillards Department Store. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Blake Holbrook of Iva.

Two brides and grooms were also introduced.

Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Buddy Caviness were married on June 13, 2015 at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Caviness make their home in Buffalo.

Mr. and Mrs. Norris Rogers Fowler III were married on October 3, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Union. Mr. and Mrs. Fowler reside at Fowken Farm, Jonesville.

Following this was the presentation of the club’s officers on the ballroom floor. The officers and members then performed the Grand March. As the Grand March came to an end, Mr. Gough invited the members to join in the Members’ Waltz.

The attendees enjoyed a delicious meal, catered by Holmes Catering of Inman, and enjoyed the Ross Holmes Band as they played favorite and popular tunes.

Receiving guests and members were: Mrs. Philip Gerald Gregory, president; Ms. Loren Sommer-Grissom, vice president; Mrs. Hakim Tazerouti, secretary; and Mrs. Gerald Anthony Gregory, treasurer.

New members welcomed were: Mrs. Bryan Robinson (Audrey), Mrs. Wallace Thomas Alexander, Jr. (Ann Marie) and Mrs. Elizabeth Martin.
