UNION — The Timken Tyger River Plant completed its 2016 United Way fundraising campaign, exceeding goals in both associate participation and the amount raised.

John Robbins, plant HR/OA manager, said the results were outstanding, as this was the plant’s second best campaign year ever with 53 percent associate participation and nearly $36,000 raised for the community. Combined with the Timken Charitable and Educational Fund’s match of 50 percent, the total contributions reached close to $54,000.

This year’s theme was “Be the One.” Robbins said the unbelievable results were due to the wonderful, caring associates at the Tyger River Plant.

“Associates experienced some really tough times this year,” Robbins said.

In September, the plant experienced a reduction in workforce along with several weeks of reduced schedules (with no pay), then conducted the plant’s United Way Campaign. In light of this, the team exceeded their goals in both participation and giving.

To recognize this accomplishment, the plant held a celebration dinner in October for those who participated.
