UNION — Closed for a week while being renovated, the Union County Chamber of Commerce office is again open even though the renovations have not been completed.

The chamber office was closed Monday, Oct. 26 through Friday, Oct. 30 while undergoing renovations that Chamber Executive Director Torance Inman said had been planned for some time. The planned renovations include painting the walls of the interior of the new building; installation of new flooring; and new furniture as well upgrading the courtyard and signage.

After being closed for a week, the chamber office reopened Monday, but Inman said only part of the planned upgrades had been made.

“We officially reopened Monday, Nov. 2, but renovations are still under way,” Inman said Tuesday. “We are still painting, landscaping, and there are still signage and some furniture upgrades that are still needed.”

The work that has been completed includes the installation of a new door with a window and blinds at the entrance way of the office which Inman said makes it more customer friendly. Also completed is the installation of new flooring and new carpeting along with some upgrades to the office’s computer system.

Inman said it is hoped the rest of the renovations can be completed soon and that when they are there will be a drop-in to honor those who have made the renovations possible.

“We hope to have it completed within the next two weeks,” Inman said. “At that time we will host a drop-in for our members and other stakeholders. At that time we will acknowledge those individuals who contributed to the upgrade with their time and contributions. We will also acknowledge an individual as the key person responsible for the entire project.”
