Courtesy photo The Monarch Elementary School and Lockhart Middle School choirs joined together to perform at the Pacolet Indian Summer Festival in Pacolet on Saturday, Oct. 17. Students entertained a large crowd of festival goers with several Halloween themed selections including "Spooky Night," "Haunted Piano," and "Have You Seen the Ghost of John." A crowd and ensemble favorite was "Zombie Style," a parody of the PSY hit single "Gangnam Style." This is the third year that the Lockhart Middle School Chorus has attended the festival and the second year for the Monarch Elementary School Chorus. The two groups were once again the only groups to attend from Union County and were the only out-of-district ensemble to participate in the annual event. Both groups have already been invited to attend next year's festival. The Lockhart Middle School Chorus and Monarch Elementary School Chorus are both under the direction of Mrs. Katherine Thrift-Winch.
