UNION — The Sims Middle School 7th grade football team fell to Gable on Wednesday.

The Sims Tigers 7th grade team fell to the Gable Buckaroos in a final score of 30-20.

Gable put the first points on the board, leading Sims 8-0, when Sims’ Keavis Savage scored on a 48-yard run, but the Tigers were unsuccessful on the two-point conversion. Savage also picked off Gable on a play, and Tarik Briggs scored on a 12-yard run.

At halftime, the Tigers were down 14-12.

The Tigers’ defense stopped Gable on a 4th and long play but could not convert. Willie Jeter connected with Briggs for a 30-yard touchdown pass as well as a two-point conversion.

“Tonight was not the best game we played,” said Sims Coach Mitchell Moss. “We lost the turnover battle. One of those was on the 1-yard line going in to score. We played flat, and looked timid at times. We have one more game, and will do everything in our power to come out victorious.”

The 7th grade Tigers are currently 2-5 overall and 2-3 in division play. They finished 4th in their division and will host the 4th place team from the east division next Wednesday.
