JONESVILLE — The Jonesville middle school football team shut out Pacolet during its last home game of the regular season.

The Jonesville Wildcats defeated Pacolet in a final score of 20-0.

“I’m extremely proud of this team and especially our 8th graders,” said Coach Jay Voiselle. “These 8th graders were not losing their last home game. They said they were not going to let Pacolet write this chapter in the book on their season, and they didn’t.”

The first score of the game came when Jonesville QB Hagan Blackwell converted on a fourth-and-goal at the 1 yard line to put Jonesville up 6-0. Blackwell later added another three-yard touchdown run to give Jonesville a 12-0 lead. Blackwell also connected with Ladarius Jefferies for a 20-yard touchdown pass, and Ty Eison ran in the two-point conversion to put Jonesville in the lead 20-0.

“Offensively, we moved the ball well,” Voiselle said. “Coach Duckett made some nice checks to get it in the hands of our play makers. Dayton Caldwell had some nice runs, and Hagan is Hagan — a bruising runner at quarterback.”

The defensive MVPs for the game were Floyd Owens, Jr. and Harold Farr, III. Voiselle said Owens and Farr unselfishly did their jobs and allowed the rest of the defense to make plays.

“That’s impressive against this type of offense,” Voiselle said. “Pacolet never threatened a score.”

The game put the Wildcats’ record at 2-4 on the season. They will play EP Todd in the last regular season game on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at EP Todd. They will then have an open week before the first playoff game.
