LOCKHART — Current Miss South Carolina Daja Dial visited Lockhart School Tuesday afternoon.

Dial visited the 21st Century After School Program, which is conducted by Urban League of the Upstate. The program currently serves 104 students in Union County with curriculum based on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). There are currently two 21st Century After School Program sites in Union County — Lockhart School and Buffalo Elementary School.

Dial answered questions from students, who were excited to look at and hold Dial’s crown as she passed it around.

Dial told students that her pageant career will end after her reign as Miss South Carolina, and she said she is thankful for the people she met through the title.

“I never knew the connections the Miss America pageant would bring,” she said. “You can’t put a price tag on them.”

Dial has one more year as a undergraduate student at Clemson, and she plans to go back and get a master’s degree in health administration after graduation.
