UNION — A local church youth group will hold a racing-themed event this weekend.

The youth of Browns Creek Baptist Church will hold their “Race to Jesus” event from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at the church, which is located at 134 Browns Creek Church Road in Union.

The guest speaker of the event will be Rodney Poston, Pastor of Vision Racing Ministries.

There will be race cars, motorcycles and go-karts from the racing community on display. There have been some surprise guests invited to attend the event, but organizers did not want to release names without confirmation.

Some of the displays will include Earl Petty’s No. 5 Renegade Race Car; Hunter Williams’ No. 00 Stock 4 Race Car; Layton Sullivan’s No. 8 Crate Late Model Race Car; and Noah Garner’s racing go-kart.

Drag race cars will be provided by Charlie Walker, Kevin Morrow, Sammy Smith and Robbie Gentry; and racing motorcycles will be provided by Colby Gregory and Phillip Carter.
