UNION COUNTY — The Union County Yellow Jackets football team travels to Broome tonight for a region contest.

The Yellow Jackets look to improve their 1-5 record (0-1 in region play) at Broome tonight against the Centurions. Broome has a 3-3 season record, 1-0 in region play.

Union County Head Coach Steve Taneyhill said Broome is a solid football team overall. Taneyhill said the Yellow Jackets are prepared for Broome’s Wing-T offense and 30-front defense.

Taneyhill also pointed out that Union County failed on the two-point play and final play as time expired against Broome two years ago. Last year, Union County scored first in overtime, but Broome scored and got the two-point play to win.

“So two straight years — two really tough losses,” Taneyhill said. “I expect a close game. Hopefully, we make enough plays to avoid the costly mistakes and find a way to win.”
