More building permits issued


County issues more single-family, mobile home permits

UNION COUNTY — The number of building permits issued for single family homes jumped 100 percent and the number of permits issued for mobile homes jumped by two-thirds in Union County between the second quarters of 2014 and 2015.

The Catawba Regional Council of Government issues quarterly reports on building trends in the four counties — Chester, Lancaster, Union, and York — that make up the Catawba Region. In its report for the second quarter — April, May, and June — of 2015, the COG reported the following building permit activity in those counties, comparing it to the building permits activity in that quarter with the activity in the second quarter of 2014.

Chester County

In Chester County, a total of 12 permits were issued for single family homes in the second quarter of 2015, a 140 percent increase over the five issued during the same time period the previous year.

No permits were issued in either quarter for multi-family housing and only one permit was issued for mobile homes in each quarter.

The number of permits for commercial construction decreased by a third between the second quarter of 2014 when three permits were issued and the two issued in the second quarter of this year.

Industrial permits decreased by 50 percent, dropping from two in the second quarter of 2014 to one in the second quarter of 2015.

Lancaster County

In Lancaster County, a total of 298 permits were issued for single

family homes in the second quarter of 2015, a 25.7 percent increase over the 237 issued during the same time period the previous year.

No permits were issued in either quarter for multi-family housing.

A total of 31 permits were issued for mobile homes in the second quarter of this year, a 34.8 percent increase over the 23 issued in the second quarter of 2014.

The number of permits issued for commercial construction remained unchanged with 21 issued in each quarter.

No industrial permits were issued during the second quarter of either 2014 or 2015.

Union County

In Union County, a total of 5 permits were issued for single family homes in the second quarter of 2015, a 100 percent increase over the second quarter of 2014 when no permits were issued.

No permits were issued in either quarter for multi-family housing.

Five permits were issued for mobile homes in the second quarter of this year, a 66.7 percent increase over the three issued during the same time period last year.

No permits were issued in either quarter for commercial and industrial construction.

York County

In York County, a total of 570 permits were issued for single family homes in the second quarter of 2015, a 27.8 percent increase over the 446 issued during the same time period the previous year.

Fifteen permits were issued for multi-family housing in the second quarter of 2015, a 114 percent increase over the seven issued in the second quarter of 2014.

Twenty-eight permits were issued for mobile homes in the second quarter of this year, a 55.5 percent increase over the same time last year when 18 were issued.

Fifteen permits were issued for commercial construction in second quarter of this year, a 25 percent increase over the 12 issued in the second quarter of last year.

There were two industrial permits issued in both second quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2014.
