UNION — The Sims Middle School volleyball team came out victorious after a match against Rainbow Lake which ended in a final score of 3-1.

In the first game, Coach Tracy Duncan said the Sims Tigers played well, serving hot as Aubrey Thompson, Addy Ferrell, Kionna McBeth, Ashunti Young and Jillian Rebuck did a great job. The score was 26-24, and in the second game, Sims won 25-16. Duncan said players served well and nice passes were given by Kallee Garner, Paige Blackwell, Abby Freeman, Tailia Glenn and Kate Burgess in Game 3.

“We just could not pull it off,” Duncan said, who explained Paige Blackwell and Kalle Garner had several digs and some saves when the score was 24-26.

In the fourth game, Sims came back with what Duncan said were nice plays at the net from Aubrey Thompson, Kionna McBeth and Addy Ferrell, along with Caitlyn Davis. Duncan also said Kalle Garner had several digs and saves.

In the fourth game, Sims came back with some plays from Aubrey Thompson at the net, Kionna McBeth and Addy Ferrell, along with Caitlyn Davis. Duncan said Jillian Rebuck again came through with serving as well as McBeth and Glenn.

“Aubrey — ‘the setter who doesn’t want to pass’ — made some nice kills along with Addy on the front row,” Duncan said. “The girls played together better than they have played all year. Our three hits are coming together, and they see mistakes they have made and are redeeming themselves. Even though it was a nerve-racking match, we pulled it off with teamwork. Way to go, girls.”

Sims is now 3-3 in the conference, and they play away at Florence Chapel on Wednesday.
