UNION — The Sims Middle School 7th grade football team defeated DR Hill in a final score of 20-6 on Wednesday.

The Sims Tigers began their match-up with the then-undefeated DR Hill Tigers with Keavis Savage picking up yardage running behind what Sims’ Coach Mitchell Moss called a dangerous offensive line. Sims’ Tarik Briggs then ran in a nine-yard touchdown, giving Sims an early lead. Briggs also scored two more touchdowns during the game — one from 23 yards out and another from 14 yards out, with CJ Coleman scoring the two-point conversion. The score was then 20-6, and the Sims defense prevented DR Hill from scoring for the remainder of the game.

“This was a great game for us,” Moss said Wednesday. “Our defense played lights out today. The offensive line created massive holes for our running backs to run through.”

Wednesday’s win put the 7th grade Tigers’ record at 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in their division.

“The kids deserve all the credit,” Moss said. “They were ready to play and played with excitement and passion. It was fun to watch.”
