MOORE — The Sims Middle School 7th grade football team was defeated 22-8 by Dawkins Middle School on Wednesday.

The 7th grade Sims Tigers were down 8-0 at halftime, and Dawkins eventually took a 22-0 lead.

Sims’ Keavis Savage then scored on a 45-yard touchdown run, and Tarik Briggs scored the two-point conversion. On the next play, CJ Coleman kicked an onside kick, which was recovered by Willie Jeter. Coach Mitchell Moss also pointed out that Tremaine Epps and Javonte Beachman made some nasty hits on defense.

“I was disappointed in our effort and execution,” Moss said. “We have to come out with more energy.”

Moss said one positive aspect was that it was the team’s first game and was against a non-divisional opponent.

“We will get better and do a better job of focusing and coaching the fundamentals,” Moss said.

The 7th grade Tigers will play at home next Wednesday.
