UNION COUNTY — The Hebrew word for the number five is title of and the meaning of the number in that language is the inspiration for a “Christian music project” by a Union County native.

Monica Wicker-Ramsay describes herself as “a Union County native, born and raised,” who “graduated from Union High School in 1999” and went on to attend USC and Liberty University and obtain an M.B.A. and an M.A. in Family Counseling.”

On Sept. 3, Wicker-Ramsay launched her new career as an “independent music artist” with the release of her “Khah-Mehsh” CD which she describes as her “Christian music project.”

Wicker-Ramsay explained that the CD’s title is the Hebrew word for the number five.

“For those wondering what does Khah-Mehsh mean exactly, “Khah-Mehsh is the Hebrew Pronunciation for the number ‘5,’ Wicker-Ramsay said. “In the Hebrew language every word, number, jot, and tittle has meaning and great significance.”

Wicker-Ramsay pointed out that Hebrew was the language the Old Testament was originally written in and it was from the meaning of the number five in Hebrew that she drew the inspiration for her project.

“The number ‘5’ means the grace of God, his love and goodness towards humanity,” Wicker-Ramsay said. “I decided to name the project Khah-Mehsh because it was the grace of God that compelled me to do it to began with, and it will certainly take the grace of God to carry me through to the next phase of his plans for this project and my life.

“Not to mention the personal symbolic meaning it had for me in that I wrote five new songs in five days to a genre I had never written before,” she said. “And to top that, I started recording the project in the fifth month of May.”

Wicker-Ramsay has been writing lyrics off and on for 15 years, but Khah-Mehsh — which she wrote herself — is her first effort as a recording artist. She said she hopes that those who purchase Kah-Mehsh will be inspired by its Christian message.

“While I consider myself a writer first and a singer second, I pray that those of you that purchase a copy will not only be blessed by it, but also encouraged and uplifted,” she said.

Khah-Mehsh is available for purchase at CD Baby (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/monicaramsay2). It will also be available at Amazon, iTues (through CD Baby), Googe Place, and Gracenote Music ID seven days after it first becomes available.
