UNION — September in downtown Union will be a month of music with three free concerts sponsored by the Union County Chamber of Commerce.

Union County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Torance Inman announced that the chamber will sponsor the concerts as part of the 2015 Music Month Downtown Union.

Inman described Music Month Downtown Union as a “three night musical event” which will be held on Herndon Street between the Union County Courthouse and the Union County School District Office Building.

The three nights are Thursday, Sept. 3; Thursday, Sept. 17; and Thursday, Sept. 24. Inman said each concert will feature a different singer/band performing a different musical genre.

Inman said that Sept. 3 will be “A Night With Carl” featuring Carl Brunson who he described as a “one man band” and a “crowd pleaser who fills the house at the South Carolina State Fair each year. He has performed at several events in Union and many have asked for a night with just Carl.”

Also back by popular demand will be “The Weatherman Band” which will perform Sept. 17. Inman said the band, whose members include Jack Roper and “several hometown boys” will play a “variety of oldies and are sure to put on an entertaining evening.”

The Sept. 24 concert will feature the “Carolina Rhythm Band” which Inman described as another favorite of Union County residents.

“This band performed at the Relay For Life a long list of both current and older hit songs, and the crowd did not want them to stop,” Inman said. “This band is one of the best kept secrets in our region and will surely perform at a level that will exceed all expectations.”

Each concert will be from 7-9 p.m.

The three Music Month Downtown Union concerts won’t be the only free musical performances the people of Union will be able to enjoy in September.

Inman said that the music will continue Sept. 11-12 during Uniquely Union which will also be held in the downtown area. He said the two day event will feature musical performances by number of singers and bands.

Sponsorships

No admission will be charged for the Music Month Downtown Union concerts, but Inman said the chamber is looking for sponsors to help defray the costs.

“The sponsorships will cover all three Thursdays and include name recognition for the sponsors in the local newspaper and on radio and fliers that will be posted around the downtown area,” Inman said. “Promotion of the events will also be posted on Facebook and other social media.”

Inman said the sponsorships include:

• Band Sponsor for $500 which gets the sponsor a large banner on the stage at all three events with name, logo and contacted information.

• Stage Sponsor for $300 which gets the sponsor a small 3×5 banner in front of the stage at all three events with name, logo and contact information.

• Music Sponsor for $200 which gets the sponsor a small 18×24 sign in front of the stage at all three events with name, logo and contact information.

Inman said that some local and regional businesses and institutions have already signed on as sponsors including Dollar General, USC Union, ELB Loan, Hart Insurance Agency, City Tire of Union, Bantam Chef, and Ten at the Top. While grateful for those who have already signed up as sponsors, Inman said more are needed.

Anyone interested in being a Music Month Downtown Union sponsor should contact the chamber at chamber@unionsc.com or call the chamber office at 864-427-9039.

All sponsorships must be in place by Aug. 26 in order for the chamber to advertise them.
