UNION — What would you like to ask the Republicans running for the US House of Representatives Fifth District seat? What are the issues you want to hear them talk about? What do you want to know about them to help you decide who will represent Union County in Washington, DC?
You’ll have your chance to question the five men and one woman running for the Republican nomination for the Fifth District seat this Friday in the USC Union Auditorium during a debate sponsored by the Union County Young Republicans and the Union County Republican Party.
The public is invited to submit questions to be asked the candidates during the debate which will begin at 7 p.m. If you want to submit questions you may do so by either mailing them to [email protected] or by submitting them in the person Friday night before the debate gets under way.
The debate will be proceeded by a meet and greet with the candidates on the Main Floor of USC Union’s Main Building.
The meet and greet and the debate are free to the public.
The candidates running for the GOP nomination for the Fifth District seat are:

• Kris Wampler
The US House of Representatives Fifth District seat became vacant when Rep. Mick Mulvaney was appointed by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the US Senate as Direct of the US Office of Management and Budget.
The primary for the Republican nomination for the US House of Representatives Fifth District seat will be held May 2. If no candidate gets a majority in the primary a runoff will be held two weeks later. The special election to fill the seat will be held June 20.
