Investigators make arrests, recover $60,000 worth of stolen property

Troup County Sheriff’s Office Criminal and Narcotic Investigators made numerous arrests and recovered approximately $60,000 worth of stolen property over the past two weeks, according to Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Stewart Smith.

One of these cases involved a Porsche automobile stolen from Troup County and transported to Orange County, Calif. shortly before it was to have been shipped to Europe for resale.

According to the report, most of the arrested parties and crimes were committed in the southern part of Troup County. The crimes range from commercial trucks being stripped for parts, boat(s) and vehicles stolen from private property, and residences being entered and burglarized.

Smith said there is no connection between the individual cases.

Those arrested and charged were

Craig I. Allen, 47, of Troup County. Charges: felony theft by receiving stolen property, obstructing officers, state parole violation.

Richard A. Harvey, 52, of Troup County. Charges: burglary, felony theft-vehicle and superior court violation.

Kenneth L. Watts, 40, of Troup County. Charges: felony theft by taking.

Jerry Hill, 53, of Troup County. Charges: felony theft by taking.

Carey D. Robinson, 42, of Troup County. Charges: felony theft by taking.

Destiny Poole, 20, of Troup County. Charges: felony theft-vehicle

Justin D. Bettis, 24, of Hokes Bluff, Al. Charges: burglary 1st degree.
