UNION COUNTY — The Union County High School girls JV basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss on the road to Broome High School on Monday, with a final score of 31-30.

“Even in the loss, the girls continue to improve,” said Coach Brian Kemp.

The team won in overtime last Thursday night at Chapman High School with a final score of 29-27.

“The girls played a good game defensively and battled back late to tie it up and send it into overtime,” Kemp said about the Chapman game.

Kemp reported that Macy Scarborough led the team with eight points; Heather Petty hit two free throws late in the game to put Union County ahead by two; and Mya Stevens made a game-sealing steal in the closing seconds.

The next JV game is against Chester High School tomorrow (Thursday, Jan. 16) at Union County High School.
