Sunday, Jan. 5

Noon: Fairforest Baptist Church, 1917 Jonesville Highway, Union, will serve up some Old Fashioned Southern Fried Home Cooking. Each plate will have a one meat, three sides, dessert, and a drink. The meats are fried chicken and meat loaf. The sides are mac and cheese, rice and gravy, green beans, potato salad, pinto beans, and cabbage. Adults dine for $8 and children ages 3 and up dine for $4 while those under the age of 3 dine for free. To go plates are available but orders must be placed by 11 a.m. To place an order to go call 864-427-3430.

Wednesday, Jan. 8

5:30 p.m.: The Laura Farr Sunday School Class of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 373 Wesley Chapel Road, holds its annual Poor Man’s Supper. The menu consists of vegetable soup, sandwiches, cornbread, and tea. Desserts extra. Takeouts call 427-5319. The supper will benefit Joyce Moody. Singing starts at 6:15 p.m. with performances by The Childers. Everyone is invited and welcome.

Saturday, Jan. 18

10 a.m.: Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church, 843 Old Buncombe Road, Union, holds a Turkey Shoot behind the Family Life Center. Total of 10 rounds and a bonus round. Cost is $3 per round and $5 for the half and half round. If you shoot in all rounds it will cost $35. Prizes will be awarded. The food trailer will be there for food purchases.

Sunday, Jan. 19

8-9:30 a.m.: Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church, 843 Old Buncombe Road, Union, holds a Baptist Men’s Day Church Wide Breakfast sponsored by the Brotherhhood. Come out and enjoy. Everyone is invited.

Ongoing Events

The Union Moms In Prayer group meets each Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Family Life Center of Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Highway, Union, S.C. This is an informal gathering of moms, grandmothers, and any other interested ladies who would like to be a part of this important ministry of praying for the students, teachers, and staff of our schools. There is also opportunity, for those who wish, to ask prayer for specific individuals. All ladies are welcome to participate. Crestview Baptist Church, 1100 Furman Fendley Highway, Union, holds Celebrate Recovery every Friday night. The meal is served at 6 p.m. and worship is at 7 p.m. For more information call 864-466-6659.

Mitchell Chapel Christian Church, 381 Kelly Road in Union, holds services at its new location, 143 Camelot Drive in Union.

The Missionary Auxiliary of the Pacolet River Baptist Association has an Emergency Food Pantry in the rear (annex) of the town hall in Jonesville. The pantry is open Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and other times by calling the numbers posted on the sign at the entrance of the annex. Bring identification and proof residence.

New Emanuel Chapel Baptist Church has changed its services times to 9 a.m. for Sunday School and 10 a.m. for Praise and Worship.

Woodson Chapel Baptist Church has changed its services to 9 a.m. for Sunday School and 10 a.m. for Worship.
