UNION — On Tuesday, the Foster Park Elementary School Drama Club presented “Babes In Toyland,” which was directed by faculty members T.J. Tyler and Amy Truitt and produced by The Baillie Players — a professional touring theatre company based in Inman. The group performed three shows on Tuesday — two during the school day and one at 6 p.m.
Rehearsals for the play began at the beginning of September. Tyler said the group normally performs a spring production, but they decided this year to perform during the fall instead.
“The students have handled it well,” Tyler said. “It can be difficult starting a new grade with new curriculum. For them to go straight into a production is amazing.”
The cast consisted primarily of fourth and fifth grade students, who rehearsed during the school day as part of their set “academy time.”
The cast of the play was as follows:
Toy Soldier Chorus
“We couldn’t do it without all of this support,” Tyler said, mentioning that everyone involved wanted to thank Principal Barbara Palmer and the FPES PTO, as well as all of the students’ parents, for their support. Tyler also mentioned he was thankful for cooperation from all of the fourth and fifth grade teachers, as well as 5K teachers Mrs. Seaburg and Mrs. Bobo for allowing their class to participate.
